Hi,

We've been travelling to Greece for about 8 years now. We love it a
lot. We've been the Cyclad islands twice last year and it has been a
dream come through. Everything is very good there: food, drinks,
locals, diving, snorkling. There are many tourists on these islands
but luckily they have kept their real Greek spirit. We have written
our personal travel stories from thos trips. YOu can take a lot at the
on this location http://users.telenet.be/EefEnTimo01/. There are some
tips, nice resstaurants and nice rooms - we usually don'tt ake huge
hotels. Check it out and let me know if you like it.

Enjoy the Greek spirit

Timo and Eef

Bear in mind that most people in the world, if they know anything about
Greece, have only heard of three or four Greek islands. The top of the list
is always Santorini and Mykonos, followed usually by Naxos and Paros. Greece
has over seventy islands that you can visit, each one with its own special
character, so it's worth looking beyond the obvious few well known ones.

Santorini, as you probably know, is an island formed from part of the rim of
an extinct volcano. It has spectacular scenery but is quite small and (in my
opinion) overwhelmed with tourists. It has an international airport bringing
hundreds of tourists every day, and is also on the cruise ship circuit so has
regular visits from literally thousands of cruise passengers at a time. I
would not recommend it for a first visit.

Folegandros is an interesting island but it's not one of those that I have
enjoyed most. I think that's because the main town is not around the harbour
like on most islands, but hidden away in the hills out of sight of the sea.
Personally if I am on an island I prefer to stay near the sea,

I would recommend for a first taste of the Greek islands, three in the
Argo-Saronic group. These are Poros, Hydra and Spetses. Hydra is nice as it
has banned all motor vehicles. All transport is by donkey or boat (or your
own feet). The quietness is wonderful. Spetses also has no cars but alas does
allow scooters and motorbikes. There are several daily ferries going between
these three and Pireaus so they are very easy to get to, and they all have a
nice Greek island atmosphere.

Finally I made up my mind and I have planned the following:

2 nights in Athens.
4 nights in Milos (we will be staying at the LAGADA BEACH HOTEL)
3 or 4 nights in Folegandors (No booking made yet, any suggestion...??)

Then we should continue to Santorini for 1 day max and then we should spend
the rest of the time in Paros or who knows....

What do you think? Is it too much?

thanks in advance.
