No, not yet. I agreed they could send it back to Olympus to be
assessed, and I'm confident it will be sorted eventually. I don't need
it right now, as my opportunities for snorkelling here are a bit
limited, and the opportunities for snorkelling in water clear enough
to be worth taking a camera are more limited still.

I bought it from cameranu.nl, and they have been good in the past.
They are aware that I am considering dropping 2K Euros on a lens, so
they may be inclined to give me the benefit of the doubt :-)

I won't - at least not immediately (for one thing, I imagine the
paperwork would be horrendous !!). Barclays may not influence ABN
Amro's daily operations that much. For example, HSBC are quite
different from First Direct.

Er, no- they earn plenty of money on foreign exchange when people go
into the high street bank to pick up money, but the main answer is that
they make plenty of money because they're a bank. (I think the
percentage cut for ATM transactions is one applied by Visa- I don't know
that Nationwide gets it.) Nationwide isn't doing this out of the
goodness of their heart- presumably the see it as a way to attract
customers- it's the only reason I opened an account with them- I don't
leave much money in it, usually- my partner moved his _main_ account to
them because of this.

I throw away more than that in change in a regular day of shopping. If I
hand over 10 for a 9.99 purchase, I don't take the change. Waste of
time, and I resent the 9.99 philosophy- I'm thinking 10, so that's what
I pay! :)

The reason people charge the 99p is not to make life difficult for the
customer or to make things look cheaper.

It is to make sure that the cashier opens the till and offers you the change

If the item was 1 it would be just too easy to take the 1 and not ring it
into the till and pocket the money.

The same applies if the item is 1,000 and 999.99

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.
