It is three days on paper but since we will be flying in on Sunday
morning that leaves Sunday afternoon and evening, Monday and Tuesday.
Then embarking on the ship Wednesday morning. I would like to see
Victoria as some have suggested but I am hesitant because that would
take one whole day. We could wing it and decide after we get to
Vancouver and have seen some of it.... which from the quoted text is
what John is suggesting.

At that... it does not seem reasonable for me to leave John blocked so
I am unblocking him.

Maybe a logical plan... let's leave Victoria for the third day, and if
we find we've hit enough of Vancouver by then, we do Victoria, but if we
find we didn't see enough, we can opt out...

Tom,

Ironically, before we even got to visit Vancouver for the very first time,
whenever we mentioned that we were sailing from Vancouver to just about
anyone, they would always tell us to go to Victoria. This became such a
standard dialogue from both family and friends, that on our very first visit
to Vancouver, we were a bit disappointed that we did not have the time to go
over to Vancouver Island, and Victoria. Imagine how excited we were when on
our last cruise from Vancouver, Victoria was actually one of our ports of
call.

Of course, our next dilemma was, should we plan on a visit to Butchard
Gardens while in Victoria or not, which again, was a suggestion from many
others. But, since we did get to see Queen Elizabeth Park/Gardens on our
first trip to Vancouver, we figured we would opt for something else.
Besides, back home in Southern California, we have many other similar
gardens, some of which we have already visited.

As it turned out, we took a city tour of Victoria, since this would be out
first time there, and would give us a good overview of the City itself.
However, the real highlight of our time in Victoria was actually the time we
spend around the Parliament buildings. We found this to be the most
interesting and picturesque.

Next month, we will sail from Vancouver again; actually flying up two days
early so we can explore more of the City itself. We have no plans to go to
Victoria again, we've seen it, and that was enough for us. Therefore, it is
still our suggestion, see what you can while in Vancouver first, then
venture out to all the other places the others have suggested as time
permits. Yet, of all the suggestions, you almost end up feeling that with
all the talk, there will come a time that you just have to go over to
Victoria anyway; at least to say you're been there - at least once.

Smooth sailing to all...

From what I have been reading the best time to visit Butchart Gardens
is on a Saturday night when they do the fireworks display. I love
fireworks, more interested in those than in flowers, so I think I would
rather save my visit to Victoria/Butchart Gardens for some other time
since Saturday evening won't be possible this trip.

I wouldn't mind taking the ferry ride over even if we just stayed a
little while... just for the ferry ride. Especially if we have a nice
sunny day... I imagine the ride on the water would be wonderful.
