Funny... I ran into exactly this crowd on this very same sailing on
Carnival a number of years ago.

Again... no more Carnival for me.

So it DOES continue... which I suspected all along, even though others
said my sailing was an exception (or that I simply made it up).

Well I did a little googling and it appears that this sailing was a
Groove Cruise. It is a group geared toward professional dance fanatics
and they have 15 top DJ s on board. The Travel Agency describes it as
Spring Break for people with jobs. From the testimonials they are from
all over the country and like to dance. There are a couple of sailings a
year. The next one is out of Miami.

As I commented earlier, three and four day sailings are known to be
party sailings. Not only on Carnival. On other cruise lines too.

We once sailed on a cruise that had been unknowingly marketed to Barbershop
Quartets. While some might shudder, my family LOVED it. In many public
areas, including bars, a quartet might spontaneously burst into a song. It
was quite controlled and civilized, and many of the quartet members were
traveling with their own families.

Long ago, on an European vacation, we were having lunch at a small Swiss
lodge in the mountains when a group of about 25-30 men came in. They were a
singing group that had either been on or were going to a competition. They
lined the tables up and sat down to enjoy a beer, and began singing. Again,
it was wonderful and quite memorable.
