Nah... I'd quietly twist a few arms and find another alternative instead...
that's what I did this past Dec when I found the HAL sailing we all liked.
Suzy was looking at Carnival for this past year, and I found the HAL sailing
with Curacao and Half Moon Cay.. and everyone got excited about the new
ports (which we all loved). I bet I could have found something really
interesting for this year too.

But this year, I gave Suzy advanced warning that Dec. would most likely not
work for me.... and asked if January might work (fall classes end in late
Dec, but spring semester doesn't start until late January). Only Jan didn't
work for some others. So it's Dec., and I'll have to skip this years.
Therefore it was the perfect year for them to do Carnival since I wouldn't
offer any "objections"... so to speak. And I think she really wanted to try
Carnival. So it's a good year to do it.

Besides... the pharmaceutical industry basically has ZERO jobs these days (I
think over 100,000 pharma people got laid off with the recent Pfizer and
Merck acquisitions), so I was glad to get the teaching job when I did. And
after only 2 weeks I'm finding it very rewarding. I'm really liking it. I
helped one of my students in chem lab try to estimate between the 10th's of
an inch on a ruler (so they learn significant figures, both the ones that
are 100% certain, and the ones that are not completely certain, but still
significant), and afterwards he said "wow, thanks, I'm really glad you're my
professor!" That made me feel good. It doesn't pay much since it's only
part time (as an adjunct professor), but I had a really good run for 25
years... now it's time to give something back.

Is there any truth in the story going around that Carnival is going to
be changing Princess now that they own them?

I can see it getting old if you see it anumber of times a year. We
only have gone crusin twice in the last few years. Kath hasn't retired
as yet, when she does we will be going atleast twice a year.

Has anyone ever done a cost comparison of a cruise on all lines?

Hi Stu,

A couple of questions for you. Where did you hear that rumor? Do you
have any idea how long Princess has been owned by Carnival?
