Where did you hear that rumor? Do you >have any idea how long Princess has been owned by Carnival? Why have you heard it as well? I was told about it approx. 14 months ago, seems it had been in the works for awhile. Lucy (one of my neighbours) who cruises princess atleast three times a year was told by one of the purser staff.

Stu, Carnival Corp bought Princess years ago.... in 2003. In spite of all the doom and gloom forecasts that Carnival would ruin Princess, that never really happened. Carnival Corp also owns Holland America, Cunard, Costa, Seabourn and of course, Carnival Cruise Line..... and some others. All of these companies are run separately and independently. -- George Leppla Countryside Travel http://www.CruiseMaster.com Blog http://cruisemaster.typepad.com/my_weblog/ Facebook http://www.facebook.com/CruiseMaster

Oh I don't know that I'd believe his article as I've found the following, pay attention to the Carnival article on this link. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=140690&p=irol-index Then there's this other article among hundreds like it.... Carnival Corporation and P&O Princess Cruises plc merged on 17 April 2003 creating one of the world's largest leisure travel companies: at the time P&O Princess Cruises was renamed Carnival plc So my neighbour was indeed correct ;) From Wikpedia: Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE: CCL, LSE: CCL, and NYSE: CUK), a British-American-Panamanian corporation, is the world's largest cruise operator, comprising 11 cruise brands, including Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Seabourn Cruise Line in North America; P&O Cruises, Cunard Line and Ocean Village in the United Kingdom; AIDA Cruises in Germany; Costa Cruises in Italy and P&O Cruises Australia in Australia. Combined, it operates a fleet of 88 ships, totaling more than 160,000 berths with a further 18 ships to be delivered by 2012. Carnival Corporation & plc is a dual listed company, with headquarters in Carnival Place in Doral, Florida, USA and in the Mountbatten House in Southampton, England, UK. Carnival Corporation and Carnival plc are separate listed companies and have different shareholder bodies, but they jointly own all the operating companies in the group. Carnival Corporation owns the majority stake. Its stock is currently traded on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: CCL) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: CUK and NYSE: CCL) as the second holding of the dual listed company.
