I have added an interview with Captain Skylogiannis to my profile of
Celebrity Eclipse. http://www.beyondships.com/Celebrity-Eclipse-art-captain.html
I hope you find it interesting.

I did, thx.

A couple of things. Captain said: " "That is why [Eclipse] is so
hydrodynamic. We have the spoiler in the back [so the aft section does
not sink down like a speedboat] into the water as we speed up. It
floats better."

With the vertical presence of the modern cruise mega ship, little is
mentioned about /aero/dynamics. This spoiler must provide a positive
aerodynamic downforce + resisting the ship's tendency to drop its tail
into the water when accelerating to plane.

I suppose a sea captain would use the term hydrodynamics (it's all
fluid dynamics anyway)...anyway. "I don't get it "floats better"
though.

A nit. Ship is named from Valletta but listed as origin the country of
Malta.
