From USA today. Too bad, I might have booked one of those. The Century
is going to Australia/New Zealand.

Where it can make much more money. The U.S. economy is slow with
unemployment high. Australia is booming. Australians haven't suffered from
the credit crisis as much as Americans have. China just took over the top
spot in energy consumption from the U.S. There is room for an upmarket
cruise line for NZ vacations in addition to the mass market Rhapsody
sailings.

The Enchantment Of the Seas or the Carnival Pride under your social
radar, Chuck? They still sail.

You had years to book the Century, it's the "might have's" and the
"maybe I will's" like you that got her stern shoved to the Aussies.

Booming indeed. Apart from the lower exposure to the GFC, cruising in
Australasia has been going through a surge over the past few years.

2011/12 will be a much bigger season than those before. In addition to
Century - Radiance of the Seas, Zaandam & Sea Princess will be extras
to the current seasonal offerings.

The Baltimore thing is wierd though, as those itineraries were
announced with fanfare only two months ago.

Sorry Charles, you might have to make the most of Mercury out of
Baltimore before they banish her from the fleet.

Eh, never cared for the Mercury. Too cold a ship. Once was enough. The
Century was ship I would have gone on again. I cruised on Century
before the big retrofit they did a few years ago so it would have been
nice to see what they did to her. At least Century is staying with the
fleet. My favorite ship out of Baltimore was the Celebrity Galaxy,
which I did twice from there, another ship gone from the fleet. You
are getting a very nice ship down there.

There are two other ships out of Baltimore, Enchantment of the Seas and
Carnival Pride so it so not like there won't be any cruises out of
Baltimore and the three New York area ports are pretty easy to get to
from Maryland.
