The roads in rural Greece were better maintained in the 1980s than in
urban Sheffield now.

Yes, several years back we did Ancona-Igoumenitsa and a year later
Ancona-Patras. At the time the Italians had the brilliant idea of
digging up the entire Autostrada all the way from Milan to Ancona, IIRC
- a nightmare drive.

The amount of traffic is worse but the roads are better.

I assumed you were talking about administrative aggro and the quality of the
roads.
