From: ah on 1 Dec 2007 12:44 Thank you so much for this, I am very grateful. No, I don't read Swedish but I followed the link you provided and was able to guess a bit of translation. I found the place (I think) on Google maps and on Google Earth but unfortunately, the image quality is not as good as for London. I wrote "I think" because there are 3 Forsbacka in Sweden and I picked the most Northern one, i.e. near Soderhamn. I want to go there when I'll go to Faro Island. -- ah "r Freud" <drfreud(a)mymail.com> wrote in message news:filvf2$e4s$1(a)news.datemas.de... > On 29.11.2007 09:10 , ah wrote: >> Thank you all for your help. If you follow this link youll be taken to the right "Forsbacka" located next to a bigger city with the name of Gavle ( Gvle) You can zoom "in and out" (In and Ut) which makes it a bit easier to locate the area in question. http://www.hitta.se/SearchCombi.aspx?vad=&var=Forsbacka Just a tip. If you happen to be able of chosing the date for your trip (during summer I hope) then whatever you do... dont miss the Medieval Week on Gotland. This attracts visitors from all over the world and you simply got to stop by to se it. Its on the bigger main island named Gotland and the bigger city named Visby. The ferry takes you straight in to the harbour so itll hit you straight in the face. The main page in English. http://www.medeltidsveckan.se/default.asp?LanguageID=2 Just keep in mind regarding Faro island that there is probably no place to stay for the night... It is sort of ...more of a private isle... well, its not private in that sense but it might be hard to find facilities made for tourism if youll get my point. It will probably improve now when Ingemar is dead and buried, but it never hurts to make some inquiries BEFORE you go :)

From: ah on 2 Dec 2007 12:49 Thank you again for all that. How do you know that Forsboda is actually Forsbacka and how do you know which Forsbacka it is? Are you Swedish, by any chance? I found Forsbacka Gavle on your map and on Google maps as well. Thank you also for indicating me the Medieval week but I am afraid that I'll miss it because it is in August and in the summer I am not really free to travel. It's a pity. About Faro, I found here http://www.bergmanveckan.se/html/en/ that there is a Bergman week organised each year in Faro. The 2008 one will be held 24-29 June. I'll check the website again in the next few weeks/months. I suppose that they organise accommodation for the participants. -- ah "r Freud" <drfreud(a)mymail.com> wrote in message news:fis9u6$moe$1(a)news.datemas.de... > On 01.12.2007 18:44 , ah wrote: >> Thank you so much for this, I am very grateful. I'll check the website again in the next few weeks/months. I suppose > that they organise accommodation for the participants. > Yip, I´m a native Swede by birth alright so that´s why I happen to know a little about it. Well, we are not that many living here you see, just about 9 milion in all of which about 2 million are immigrants from all around the world. There are by other words more people living in the city of Paris or London then within our whole nation. This with the Bergman week is probably some new event because Ingemar was a kind of hermit living out there... the man, the myth and... you get the picture... However, he built a cinema where he sat all by him self (and a guy running the projector) having a trip down memory lane watching all his movies.. kind of sad when thinking about it but I believe he actually enjoyed the solitude... some people are like that you know.. and I´m one myself.. well, It brings quite good harmony and also brings food for thoughts you know... If you know how to handle solitude that is. :) Otherwise you´d probably go APE! Anyhow, I believe it is in this exact cinema they now are going to hold the Bergman Week and show his films ...and maybe some personal stuff too. (They plan to make a Museum out there you see, but I don´t know how far they have proceeded with the plans yet) It could be nice to sort of have this picture in mind of him sitting there all alone when entering.. Well, regarding the Medieval Week 2008. I saw that it will not fit in to your schedule because it was a bit later on next year, August 3 – 11, Sunday to Sunday, (always week 32) Well, maybe it saved you some problem as well because you would probably have to book your hotel reservation at least two years in advance for even have a fair chance of succeeding.. that´s how popular it is. But.. if you ever get a chance.. just go there.. it´s the pearl of the baltic sea, our gem that we actually prefer to keep to our selves, but now it´s even on the world heritage list so nothing much seem to point in a direction of tourism decreasing. It´s a darn cool place thoug... you´ll love it I´m sure. Well, I hope I answered some of your questions but you´re always welcome asking more. Take care now! Pete |
