No, the Bergman week is not really new. I think that it started a few years
ago. I know about Bergman's life there because I recorded the excellent
series Encountering Bergman broadcast on BBC4 last summer. I want certainly
to go to Gotland, on my way to Faro. Do you live there, if I may ask? I am
in London.

You might check this Internet site.
http://www.bergmanorama.com/films/best_intentions.htm

The site says, "Filmed: on location in Uppsala, Strmsberg (Uppland), Ransj
(Hrjedalen), Tureholm Castle, Dillns (Sdermanland)."

Have a good time on your visit.

No, I live just outside Gothenburg actually so it is not even close.
Ive just been there a few times and frankly, I fell in love with the
place at first sight and even had some wild thoughts of moving there at
one point, but one has to make living too you know, so it never happen.
Even though Visby is a small town there is anyhow very little activity
going on during the winter season, so it is a bit tricky trying to make
a living there unless you dont have something that you could do from home.

Oh, shame on me then... I who thought the festival was totally new.
Well, there you see my true passion for Bergman :) I do like his early
work the most though, the black and white period and personally I think
that its right here that his true genius lies, but maybe it is because
I like those older actors and storys the best.

By the way, when, or if you visit Gotland and Visby and then if youll
have some time left then take the bus to the Lummelunda Caves
(Lummelundagrottorna) The bus stops right at the enterance. Its a few
km:s north of Visby, towards Faro. Its a quite big cave system worth
seeing... but its not always open to the public so also in this case
you better make sure its open before just going there. Well, in case
you happen to have some spare time that is. Im not that fond of caves
myself even if they are big, but anyhow, if you happens to be in the
neighborhood it might be well worth a visit.
