"pack" of wolves, dogs, submarines is an *offensive* hunting
group, as in "hunting as a pack"."Herd" is a more *passive* group
of animals, often farmed.
If you think all group words mean the same, do you refer to a
deck of wolves or a herd of playing-cards?
