I can't do that automatically, but I could do it manually if I weren't with a group that doesn't let me stand still long enough to make good records. -- Erilar, biblioholic bib-li-o-hol-ism [<Gr biblion] n. You have to plan on recharging the batteries every single day. Also, the detailed maps cost a fortune. What the heck, you can track where you've been with a paper map and a pen. For serious backpacking you need to keep your weight to a minimum. I did a stretch of the Camino Santiago recently with some friends. Among six people we just had two cameras and two cellular phones. Is there any > unit like this? Most, if not all the Garmin hand-held units record a track log. They use this to display a 'breadcrumb trail' on the screen so that you can easily backtrack. The log can be exported but the problem for me is that the track log is usually limited to about 10,000 points which is enough for a few days of trips but no more -- Mike Lane UK North Yorkshire email: mike_lane at mac dot com |
