Congratulations, Annie. Sometimes parents are not always right, and they
were not in your case. :-)

You and your grandchild will love hawaii,we have been there twice, and it
is heart rendering to go to the pearl harbor memorial. It tears
your heart apart, but worse was seeing all the young japanese making fun
of it and ridiculing it.

We are flying in to Honolulu on Weds. doing the 2 day Tora Tora Tora
tour (land, and sea one day visiting the battleships, and cemeteries,
and an air tour of the route the Japanese took when they bombed Pearl
on the second day). I'm really looking forward to that.

Then going on the POA on Sat., because there are no other ships that
do Hawaii in the summer when he is out of school. Their usual
itinerary - Kahului, Hilo, Kona, Kauai, and back to Oahu. After that,
we fly to the Big Island and drive up to Volcano NP. It isn't a
"package" per se as I put it together myself.

We are doing a lot of ships tours. It was suggest that we do air tour
that showed the places where they filmed Jurassic Park but this kid
was never interested in dinosaurs and hasn't seen the movie. It was
suggest that we bike down the volcano, but he doesn't know how to ride
a bike and I'm not sure it would be something I would really want to
do anyway. He's not interesting horseback riding (even though his
mom is a horse trainer) and I'm past doing that myself. We are doing
some snorkeling because I want to do that - he's not a great swimmer
but I am.

He's a really nice kid, very smart and with a great ability to
concentrate. According to his mom he travels well. We've always
gotten on well but I think inevitably there will be some horizon
expansions for him.

Which is good.

I'm not a fisherperson. Someone else will have to introduce the
grandchildren to that. Definitely want to walk on the volcanoes.

Sounds like a great vacation you put together. I haven't read much about
the POA recently and hope it has improved, but I think you will be fine
on it no matter what.

We stopped for lunch one day while driving around and the place we
stopped turned out to be where they filmed Jurassic Park and they also
had horses there that you could ride. We only had lunch there, but it
was interesting and if you ate outside you had a great view of the
ocean. I wonder how much you can see from the air, but if nothing else
the views of the ocean will be wonderful.

According to my friend, they repeat the commentary in both languages.
When she flies from Japan to the US, she has a layover in Hawaii,
sometimes she stretches out for a couple of days. Hawaii is a popular
tourist destination for people who live in Japan.
