You have to wonder if one led to another:

Morons are not exclusive to SoCal. I live in SoCal and will never
play a 6:5 game. Confession: I did once, only because that's all
O'Sheas had, and I played one hand because I had a match play coupon.
I was hoping that the casinos would get away from 6:5 when the econony
tanked, in order to attract more business, but they seem to be doing
the opposite. But then, can you blame the casinos when the tables
always seem to be full, in spite of poor rules? 6:5 plus double only
on 10 or 11, and in an eight deck shoe game at some places. I know
that no regular reader of this group would play that game, but with
all the information available on line, don't the casual tourists at
least do a little research before they gamble?
Gripe, moan and complain about it all you want (I've done my share),
but after about six years of it, I don't think it's going away.
