I've cruised to and back from Alaska on both HAL & Princess. And it is
totally true that the HAL bathtubs while small are larger than the
Princess showers. One can always take a shower in the bathtub. Most
all cabins, except handicapped ones, have baths on HAL. also all
cabins have a sofa (sitting area) which can be very nice if one
partner wants to lie down on the bed and the other just wants to sit
comfortaly and relax. I'm talking about indoor and ocean-view cabins
here, not minisuites.. Even regular verandah suites on Princess do not
have a sofa. however, if you want a fridge on this type of cabin on
HAL, it will cost you $2.00 a day, well worth it to keep all the wine
you want at a cool temp because on HAL you can carry on all the wine
you choose to carry. entertainment is better on Princess. As for the
cruise itself, both are comparable.

One of my first questions was going to be about a fridge. While I don't
drink wine, I had some bottles of juice in the fridge on Princess.
There was something about an ice bucket that I read on the HAL website,
which would be fine. I also didn't remember reading about safes in the
room like Princess has. Did your HAL cabin have a safe?

Thanks for that info.

Not true. Oosterdam's pax capacity is 1848. Celebrity has Infinity (2034),
Millennium (2034) and Mercury (1840) on Alaska itineraries. Azamara Club
doesn't offer Alaska cruises.

The fridge info was not quite right.

All cabins on the newer HAL ships, Vista class and above, have a fridge
in the cabin. The Oosterdam has a fridge in every cabin. On the older
smaller HAL ships the Verandah cabins have a fridge, inside and outside
cabins can have one brought in for $2 a day.

HAL cabins have safes.

The corner ones are the suites ... those in the center are just
verandas ...
if the verandas are huge ... those on the suites are humungous ...
Best stability is present on the lower decks ... but the better
accomodations IMO are on the upper decks ... I love the feeling of
openness the stern balcony brings ...
