You rarely get close enough to really see the glaciers. I would likely not do another Alaska cruise that didn't include Glacier Bay or Hubbard Glacier (which is our absolute favorite). Hubbard seems to be the most active glacier, in terms of calving, and size. Normally the ships get really close to Hubbard. We have sailed on HAL, RCI and Princess in Alaska and I think Holland America does the best job, and has the best viewable locations on their ships. Tobie>>>>>on an Island in the Pacific

The naturalist said we got closer to Sawyer Glacier than they had before, but I'm sure Glacier Bay will be spectacular. Thanks. Marcia

I have read a bunch of trip reports and I noticed that it seems a lot of times the ships can not go into the Tracy Arm. But when they do get into the fjord on almost every ship, every cruise line, they tell the passengers that it was the closest the ship had ever gotten to the glacier! -- Charles
