Rosalie, Thank you for that! I did not catch that. I will inquire if an exception can be made in the case of children. Do you think this is a good choice or what, based on what you know about the situation? Again, thank you...

Well Ray, a good TA listens carefully to his customer. In this case you could have read what Samuel wrote in his initial post in this thread: "(9&10)". What do you think that means? I guess you were too busy spamming.

For others who might not be aware and are considering SDYC I will post it after my signature. -- Ray Goldenberg 800-719-9917 or 805-566-3905 Lighthouse Travel http://www.lighthousetravel.com Follow us on Twitter http://twitter.com/lighthousetravl Follow us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/ray.goldenberg What is SeaDream Yacht Clubs policy regarding children? SeaDream is excellent for couples and friends as well as families with mature, well traveled, children ages 13 and older. Adults with children younger than 13 years of age should carefully consider SeaDream Yacht Club as an option. Children age 1 or younger are not allowed passage. We do not have formal childrens programs or baby sitting services available on the yacht. In some cases; the childrens nanny or au pair traveling with the family is an ideal solution. When families are on board parents are expected to manage the behavior of their children to ensure that the enjoyment of other guests is in no manner compromised. Guest satisfaction is very important to SeaDream. The onboard crew has been instructed to immediately inform parents about unacceptable behavior of our younger guests! SeaDream follows local laws as it relates to drinking age and this varies from 18 to 21 years of age. Families who elect to charter the vessel may set up childrens programs and other childrens services not normally available on regular voyages. Please consult our charter department for further information.

It sounds like you identified a great option and are ready to talk to a travel agent to fully explore it. Re: the three pax per room issue and accommodating the kids in your group, if they don't have medical needs and are comfortable with and can responsibly handle a bit of independence, you may want to consider getting them their own cabin. Our children routinely sailed together in their own cabin from an even earlier age than your 9- and 10-year-olds. As long as the parents' cabin is next door or across the hall and the parents set the usual security rules, they will be fine (sometimes, adjacent cabins have a connecting door just like in hotel rooms, which is a nice option when cruising with children). Also on the topic of the kids, you may anticipate there will be few to no other children aboard that sailing, and I wouldn't expect the yacht to be stocked with much in the way of books, games or movies they'd enjoy (a good topic for inquiry if you book, e.g., what sort of library does the yacht feature? what board games are kept on hand? are there in-cabin DVD players? movies to check out? etc.) It's likely they'll want to travel with their own books, games, hand-held video games, movies, instruments, etc., to fill their evenings and other down time aboard. If they play chess, I'm confident it will be available--and if they don't play, it's a fun time to learn. Keep us posted! Diana |
