I'm not a big fan of the show. It seems like a cross between the Antique Road Show & Orange County Choppers. I thing they stage the show, the items people bring in don't belong in a pawn shop. A number of years ago, I don't know what channel I saw it on, but it was a Vegas pawn shop open 24/7, The unsafe hours they had a walk up window. People would pawn their jewelry and if they win, they be back in a couple hours to reclaim their stuff. Sometimes repeating this several times a night. The show I really like is Repo, what a bunch of strange people. These people are just too stupid to be real. dr. Baf

From: ozzy on 6 Feb 2010 02:21 I will be in Vegas this month from the 18th to the 23rd. One of my stops will be the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop. Will probably just buy a souvenir cap or t-shirt. Looked at their website. Pricey stuff. Really like the show. Great history lessons.

It seems like a cross between the Antique Road Show & Orange County Choppers. I thing they stage the show, the items people bring in don't belong in a pawn shop. Here's how it's done. Someone comes in, and Rick makes a list of what he thinks are interesting things. He asks the seller if they would like to come back and possibly get it filmed. He then runs it by the producer, and they choose. 1 or 2 days a month a crew comes in, and a list of sellers gets to walk in and act as if it's just happening then. Stuff is filmed out of sequence for convenience, (experts, restorers, Chumly adventures etc), and then edited as the want. Of course this is just my guess, based on what I know about how these shows are done. As far as authenticity, I don't care, it's just plain fun to watch. If anyone was really selling something valuable, wouldn't you think they'd go up and down the street and get at least 3 offers from different places before agreeing? -- JK Sinrod www.MyConeyIslandMemories.com -- JK Sinrod www.MyConeyIslandMemories.com |
