First, you picked a good time to cruise. Right after New Year's,
prices tend to be down and the ships a whole lots less crowded. With
the ultra luxury ships you have picked, kids wouldn't be a problem
anyway.

You didn't say how long you had but when we cruise, we prefer the
Eastern/Southern routes and especially like to combine all three. I.E.
would be many of the non transit to the Panama Canal (Lake Gatun)
itineraries. Often these will swing thru the Caymans, Costa Rica, the
ABCs over to the Grenadine and Windwards, Leewards up to the Virgins.

Tom,

Thank you for the input. Yes, I deliberately chose non-mass market
types because my partner has never been on a cruise and I did not want
to be pegged with some friends of his who only have done mass market
and rave about them. I want to insure that we are spoiled upfront for
the comparison...

Then when I Am forced into that $600 base rate cruise, I can smile
knowing that we will never ever do one of those again..

I would love to do the Paul Gauguin, yet for the distance we would
require at least two weeks, for a first cruise my thoughts are doing a
"local" one first, then going to Tahiti will not be an issue...

Thank you for your thoughts.

Ari,

We have six to eight days max... Personally, I prefer fourteen to
eighteen days. I do not think my partner could stand it as a first
cruising.

Thanks - Bo

Coming out of NJ, right? A couple of thoughts. 1) Fly south, in Jan
anything cruising out of the East will have a couple of cold days (at
least) as you go and come.

2) If you fly, get to FLL or MIA, the latter having the widest
assortment of cruise choices. However, look at these.

or

We sailed the Navigator a few years back and found the ship and RSSC
great value. The itineraries for Jan lead you to better and better
weather.

As additional incentive.
