I feel this is good backup information in a pinch. However, I have found
that printing out the luggage tags from the cruise line on coated stock,
which is a bit thicker than regular paper, seems to help quite a bit.
Likewise, the fact that most luggage tags printed from one's computer, ends
up being folded three ways, makes it extra durable. I just tape or stable
the ends to one another, and 'presto' you have a pretty good luggage tag.

Smooth sailing to all...

I agree. I don't think we should get them at the dock and I don't think
we should have to print out our own. I don't mind the e-docs, printed
docs are not needed, but the cruise lines should continue to mail out
luggage tags in advance like I understand Royal Caribbean is planning
to do.

I just had a nice surprise, NCL sent us a welcome aboard booklet containing
all sorts of information and excursions offered with luggage tags inserted.
The booklet has a two page ship directory on the last pages that states our
cabin number with the same sort ship map that the cruise lines give you when
you board to locate where your cabins and everything else is on the ship.
Nice touch...you get to familiarize yourself with where everything is on the
ship before you board. We have already printed out our boarding passes...Our
cruise is Dec.27th-Jan.3, sailing out of New Orleans..We chose the Norwegian
Spirit because she is our favorite NCL ship and we wanted to see how the
service is for ourselves since we have heard so many complaints here about
NCL. Am looking forward to seeing New Orleans again, too, since we have not
been there since Katrina.. The city and ship should be all decked out for
Christmas!

Haven't tried this yet. Are the tags that are d/l and printed via the
computer however many up on 8 1/2 x 11? I have some adhesive label
stock that size, which would work VERY nicely for the baggage tags.

Kurt,

All the ones I've printed out are one-up on a standard sheet of 8-1/2' x 11"
paper. There are fold lines to fold the sheet vertically into 3 sections,
that then makes for a relatively thick tag. As for printing on adhesive
labels, your really only need the adhesive part at the ends, so tape or
stapling works just as well, and is a lot cheaper.
