From: Judy on 11 Jul 2010 16:52 Hello- on July 22 I will be using my Give-a-day Get-a-Day voucher. I plan to spend the day at Epcot. I will be arriving at Disney around noon time and staying the night at All Star Sports then dirving back to Jacksonville the next morning. I picked Epcot because of the inside attractions- Ellen, Circle of Life, Impressions de France- etc. That way I can stay as cool as possible in FLA in July... On checking the WDW calendar, July 22 is extra magic hours at Epcot. Now- my questions- originally I had planned to stay at the park until I was too hot & tired to continue and then go back to the hotel and swim. Then I would call it a day. Now I'm thinking of going back to the hotel earlier and enjoying the pool and then after a short rest, returning to Epcot for the 9-12 EMH. Is it worth it? Are the lines any less than in the daytime? Would I have any chance of riding TT or Soarin'? I'm pretty sure that with the voucher I am not eligible for FP usage during the day. Are there FPs during EMH? Also, is there any way of paying a fee to make the voucher a one day PH? Thanks for any help- suggestions- etc. Judy
From: Sue/WDW1972 on 11 Jul 2010 17:02 Evening EMH makes Epcot miserable from late afternoon onward. You'll do less than you would on a non-emh day. Test Track won't be a problem with the single rider line but Soarin will have long (60-90) minute waits well past 9pm. EMH used to be Friday nights - is it really Thursday this time? I know 7/22 is my surgery date & that's a Thursday! Sue/WDW1972

Yes, I double-checked the WDW calendar and the 22nd is EMH for Epcot. BTW-good luck with everything. I'll be sending good thoughts your way. Judy

If I understand Disney, you "redeem the voucher for a 1-day ticket to any of the following 4 theme parks: Magic Kingdom® park, Disney's Animal Kingdom® theme park, Epcot® or Disney's Hollywood Studios park." http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?name=Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day-Terms-Conditions-FAQs Once you have your ticket, and use it, you could then go to guest services and upgrade. If you could get the $26 FL resident park-hopper upgrade, then it might be worthwhile. If you had to pay the full $52 park-hopper upgrade, I think that's throwing your money away. Also... "May I upgrade my free one day ticket to an Annual Pass or multi-day ticket? Yes, you may upgrade the free ticket to another ticket type of greater value within the applicable upgrade window. However, you are responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by you. No changes or refunds will be given. The value of the free ticket may not be used to combine or upgrade with a separate single or multi-day ticket." http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?name=Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day-Terms-Conditions-FAQs#groupFive If it were me, I'd probably upgrade to one of the FL resident seasonal passes -- which include park-hopping (price including sales tax): FLA-Res Seasonal Renewal $235.37 FLA-Res Weekday Seasonal $179.99 http://allears.net/pl/ticketchart.htm

Evening Extra Magic Hours at Epcot are miserable. It will be the most crowded it could possibly be, practically all day, and the lines for the major attractions will be longest they can be. The very last hour of the night you might be able to see a bit of easing, but that's about it, and it will never make the hoardes of guests you've had to deal with all day worth it. Sorry, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but either pick another park or pick another day to arrive. ~Amanda |
