From: jgrove24 on 24 Apr 2007 18:29 www.local6.com/news/12610602/detail.html?rss=orlpn&psp=news: ORLANDO, Fla. -- Incidents of beer bottles tossed at police prompted a major crackdown outside nightclubs in downtown Orlando that included officers patrolling the crowds with large assault rifles. Police said they want to take control back of the downtown area after some incidents by people leaving clubs, according to the report. "They are out-of-control partiers," Local 6's Laura Diaz said. "They are coming out of nightclubs like Taboo and they are absolutely losing control. They are throwing beer bottles at patrol cars and urinating off balconies." Local 6 video showed officers carrying large assault rifles as they monitored the crowds Thursday night and early Friday. In recent weeks, there have been shooting and robberies in the downtown area, Diaz said. Meanwhile, club owners in downtown Orlando are lobbying to keep their businesses open two hours later, the report said. The crackdown is the second this year.

From: Ed on 25 Apr 2007 07:10 You should choose your words more carefully. When you write: "Oh I get it now.... yes Orlando is a wicked place unlike <insert your lame hometown here>. " You are inviting just about anyone to point out that you truly are an idiot. I wouldn't want to raise my family in a place like Orlando. As bad as the stats are that I posted they are from 2003, it has gotten much worse. Tourists should stay out of the city and stay on property if possible. Even then you get robbed in Orlando with their 12% tax. They need the money to fight crime. I wouldn't want to raise my family in a place like Orlando. Are you kidding? Where would you want to raise your family because when you start going to cities the size of Orlando and larger you have more crime. You do know the area code for the Bronx is 911 right, not Orlando. My whole point, which you failed to grasp, is that crime is EVERYWHERE. I travel around the world and I've been to many cities with much worse crime rates than Orlando (hell I live in one Washington DC) but I've never been mugged or murdered. People just need to learn to be safe EVERYWHERE they go. It blows my mind that idiots like you who try to "massage numbers" to make Orlando out to be something it's not when viewed in context. > As bad as the stats are that I posted they are from 2003, it has gotten > much worse. > Tourists should stay out of the city and stay on property if possible. > Even then you get robbed in Orlando with their 12% tax. Das macht nichts though, Orlando is still safer than the majority of cities out there. --- Yet another satisfied customer of Bartender Sam!
