From: Mike Lane on 21 Mar 2010 09:18 I am thinking of spending a few days in the Pelion peninsular in Greece in late May/early June (I know - it's a mad time to be visiting Greece; I can't help that though). I wonder if anyone reading this has been there and can recommend a place to stay for a few days as a base for exploring the region. I'd like somewhere by the sea, but sandy beaches and all that sort of thing (sun-beds, water skiing etc.) don't interest me at all. Ideally I'd like a small fishing village or harbour with enough population to support a few tavernas and smallish hotels. I thought that somewhere like Damouhari might be good - does anyone know it? -- Mike Lane UK North Yorkshire email: mike_lane at mac dot com

Damouhari is on the side out to the ocean, correct? The landscape here is very beautiful, forests of chestnut and oak with natural springs.

I suppose you don't remember the name of this unforgettable village? :-) > Damouhari is on the side out to the ocean, correct? Yes it's on the eastern (Aegean) side of the peninsular > The landscape here is very beautiful, forests of chestnut and oak with > natural springs. So I believe. I don't know why I've never thought of going before. -- Mike Lane UK North Yorkshire email: mike_lane at mac dot com

Just a thought if you are looking for a traditional fishing village. In fact I just found this on Google - "Damourhari was in fact settled by the Venetians, as is [sic] the only natural harbor in the Eastern Pelion area." http://www.thegreektravel.com/pelion/damouhari.html T. > >> The landscape here is very beautiful, forests of chestnut and oak with >> natural springs. > > So I believe.
