Hello all,

I am a seasoned traveller and do not like tourist hotels. Can anyone share
some safe hotels is Montego Bay, Kingston, or Negril Jamaica. All I want is
a place to sleep that has a little mom and pop restaurant.

Thanks in advance.

John

Hello!

I was in Mobay and Kingston in summer 2009. In Mobay I can recommend Tobys
Resort, a rather small, nice hotel:

Nice people, quiet and laid back, great food. Not a place with loud music
and party, but if you look for that, it's not far to walk down the hip
strip.

Kingston is a bit more difficult, as most hotels cater for businessmen and
are rather expensive. I stayed at Shirleys retreat, a small place that is
run by some church people:

Clean and safe place, central location, within walking distance from Devon
House. They don't have a restaurant though, but there is a big american bar
(TGIF) just 5 minutes to walk away. I walked it at night and didn't have
any problems, but YMMD. They do fix you a nice breakfast in the Hotel upon
request, but you have to pre-order it the evening in advance. The place is
nice and friendly, but maybe not that professional, so make sure you fix a
price beforehand, otherwise they could quote you something completely
different from what is listet on their website.

Can't give you any advice on Negril.

Regards,

Frank
