Is there a web site that will search for the cheapest international flights
from US to South America that are conditioned by arrival/destination points
and NOT specifying exact departure or return dates? Expedia will only work
with a date range for US domestic flights.

http://travelocity.com can search for dates plus/minus one to
three days or for totally flexible dates. The totally flexible
option can be frustrating since many of the indicated available
dates will show up as sold out once you click on them so you need
to cross yor fingers and then stick to it.

Try ITA at www.itasoftware.com

They write the search engine used by Orbitz and others, and were
recently bought by Google. Their own site is a live demo of the
software, doesn't sell tickets but is great for finding what's
available to where when.

You have to use the prototype of Matrix2 software to get the desired
functions. But yes it is very nice, and much more useful than what other
vendors are doing.

So once you locate a flight, how do you buy the ticket at that price?
