Well, we're finally well settled in BLT--dedicated 2 bedroom, 4th
floor, Magic Kingdom view. I'm having my morning coffee enjoying my
lovely view of the underside of the monorail. Honestly, I have no idea
why I went for the extra points for a Magic Kingdom view. Yes, you can
see the fireworks, but you see them on the far side of a bank of
parking-lot lights. Not worth it, won't do it again. Although the
little rooflet under the balcony does provide a certain safety net in
case the nephew manages to pitch himself over the side--the little
wall under the rail proves irresistible for hyper children to stand
on.

But we did finally get all our luggage and groceries, got the TV
working, and had an extremely noisy dinner at Chef Mickey's. Now I'm
ready to make breakfast (bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, cantaloupe,
whole-wheat toast, OJ), and we're going to visit the Magic Kingdom.

Sounds like the start of a great vacation, Caren. I bet the kids are so
excited. MK is such a short walk from BLT. I would like that.

lol. I think I'm running a 50% satisfaction with a premium room.
I think AKL is the only place I've been to where I'll pay more for
a particular view...

Well, then you're certainly at the right place...

(Can I come to your place for breakfast?)

Too late for breakfast, but we're having chili and cornbread for
dinner;-) I think I vastly prefer doing my own cooking here--the
food's better and the dining is more relaxing.

This morning we turned in Bernie's AP voucher, got sister in-law a
park hopper, and got into the Magic Kingdom at opening. Bernie
immediately decided to get a haircut and said he'd catch up with us.
He never did. As it turns out, he decided he needed an shower after
his haircut and then he decided he needed a nap.

Sister in-law, nephew, and I climbed the tree house, went for a cruise
in the jungle, and rode with the pirates. Then we looked at Splash
Mountain and decided it was too scary, visited the ghosts, and
listened to presidents.

For those of us who're familiar with WDW, it's always instructive to
see how people who rarely do Disney handle it. "Is this tree real?"
"Do I need my ticket now? How about now?" "Can we buy a fastpass?"

Only one child. It takes three adults to handle one 8-year-old grand
nephew.
