I saw an old postcard from the early 1970's of the Las Vegas Hilton.
They would sometimes have 3 big names appearing at the same time.
Here were the names on the huge sign out front:

Glen Campbell
Perry Como
Wilson Pickett

That is quite the unique trifecta of entertainment. Someone for
everyone!

This is kinda off the subject of Vegas, but when I lived in Malibu,
there was this place near Topanga called Reel Inn (maybe it was
Something's Fishy, I can't recall). They had a marquee that had some
hilarious catch phrases (no pun intended). One of my favorites was
when the film "Eyes Wide Shut" came out in 1999. They had a marquee
out that read, Eyes Wide Shuck.

Friggin funny.

Funny!! At the Las Vegas Hilton (International) they had a globe out front
for years and in just the last 5 or so years took it down. The Stardust had
a different type style on their big sign out front.

If you go to Frys Electronics there are photos from the 1940's untill the
70's above eye level. It's fun to look at.

Is it me, or are the signs & marquees getting more lame? If you take
a look at the casino signs from the 60's & 70's, i.e. Sands, Dunes,
Stardust, Golden Nugget, Mint, etc...., compared to the signs today,
the ones nowadays are incredibly lame, Compare the Bellagio or
Venetian sign to the old Dunes sign. It isn't even close! Do they
spend so much on the hotel that there isn't any money left over for a
decent sign? Is it the obsession with video boards that is killing
off cool signs? I'd like to know.
