Brig to Venice is direct or one change at Milan.

If your traveling by public transport , which in Switzerland is the
worlds best , you could take the post bus over the mountains to
Domodossola Station from Brig Station and then pick up a train to
Venice. it will take longer , but more mountain views, no need to
book, only do it if the weather is good though.

Re reading your OP I see your train traveling You will probably enter
Switzerland at Basel, if so travel via the Lotschberg Line one of the
finest scenic mainlines in Switzerland
http://www.bls.ch/bahn/liniennetze_e.html
The new Lotschberg Base tunnel opens I think in 2007, be sure to take
the old alpine route, some services will still use this . Although
its an enginering masterpiece the Scenery is none to good if the best
bit is above a long tunnel.
