On the other hand, when you have a rainy day, it could be much cooler. > We are just going to be walking around in the towns. So what should > we be prepared for? Take sun-creme (high sun-block, like 25 or 30) and sun-hats, the sun at this altitude is very strong and you get burned very quickly. Especially when it feels a little cool and windy. Besides that, taking a light rain-jacket for in the day might be a good idea, and maybe a jumper. Regards, Frank

Ten minutes was the maximum recommended time in the sun at sea level in Zuid Holland last week. Average Zermatt temperature and rain fall figures are here http://www.about.ch/geography/climate/zermatt.html and here http://www.world66.com/europe/switzerland/zermatt/lib/climate

The first site shows a June average for Zermatt of 10.2 degrees, and 12.7 degrees for July. The graph on the second site shows a June range of about 13 to 22, and a July range of about 15 to 25. They can't both be right, can they?
