why do you need an app?

Why can't you just type in the url (and save it as a favourite - or
whatever)?

(genuine question I know nothing about this appley stuff)

I suppose that the rise of the euro (from 0.8 up to 1.5) has been real
problem. There were very few tourists in the district of Paris where I
work those last months. There even were less coaches full of chinese
tourists at the asian entrance of the Lafayette galeries.
Maybe some of them just switched to cheaper districts (or near Paris
suburbs).
But with the euro drop to $1.2, the situation seems to be changing.
I heard more foreign speaking persons on the Grands Boulevards those last
weeks.
I understand that, with a $1.5 euro, the prices in the tourists traps
were really scorching. Many times, you just have to walk 200 or 300 meters
(yards) to find nice local restaurants or friendly bakeries with
affordable sandwiches and cold drinks.

The Firefox browser (or Namoroka) with some RSS add-on (HeadlinesTicker,
for example) is doing fine too.
The BBC RSS threads are here :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/help/3223484.stm
The AFP and Reuters threads, once free, are no more available.

You can, but the ipad doesn't support flash, due to two large
corporations (Adobe and Apple) having a petty fight. Disable flash on
your browser and go to the bbc news website- the video and audio won't
work. Same goes for almost any media website.

I use an app for BBC news which is useful as it downloads news stories
so you can read them online.
