You don't need flash to read the BBC, only to play their annoying videos.

OK, I can see a small need for that, but only if you really can't read
whilst online for some reason.

In the old order world of being charged by connection time I can see that
people might want to read offline to save connection costs, but with
connections charged by megabytes nowadays that isn't going to make any
difference, or am I missing something?

But apart from the videos, it's a simple html and jpeg based site, there is
nothing tricky about it at all.

And if there is, it's possible to select a version that is entirely text
based.

Except it blocks access if it thinks you don't have the applications
installed that it needs.
