But I do turn off access to them as default.

Lots of website refuse to load on my PC because they can't find whatever it
is that they want, but the BBC doesn't.

I can't believe that the BBC website is clever enough to tell the difference
between being installed and unavailable and not installed - no one else seem
to be able to do this.

Why do you have them installed?

In that case you are lucky.

The BBC has pumped GBP10 million into this site. Not many commercial
organisations would waste money on what the BBC has done with their website.

Because I do allow some sites to use them. It would be pointless, for
example, going to youtube if I didn't allow the videos to run, but I don't
need the BBC's.

That's because the Beeb site has been written correctly - to run sensibly
without them.

Yep! They've written their site so that it still works on browsers that
don't support the things that it wants, instead of lazily saying "can't load
because you don't have gizmo version 4.5".

Sorry, but I don't know quite what you're referring to. News videos? I
almost never watch them. I get my moving news on TV. And if I wanted
to watch something like that, I'd be much more likely to use my laptop.

Then it seems I made a good choice in adding it 8-)
