Some years back, when a flight I was to take was canceled, I found out
that those of us on the canceled flight had no priority whatsoever - I
got a seat on the third or fourth flight to go out.

I'm hoping that if my flight to Heathrow is off, I'll be diverted to
Scotland, which is where I'm heading anyway!

Of course, Astra2D has a very special beam in comparison to all the
other co-positioned satellites on 28.2E.

I had that link, too! I just wanted to show why BBC and the rest of the
gang is on Astra2D and not on Astra2A, which would make it much easier
for the rest of europe.

Quite a lot of people want to watch movies and series in original
language. In Germany you mostly get it on PAY-TV, if at all.

In Germany the market share of satellit is about 40%. That can't be all
gastarbeiters! ;-)

Public TV like ARD and ZDF did it in the 80s and 90s, when stereo TVs
got popular (even in small TVs). So they could use the second channnel
for original language. I searched today's TV listings and i found only
two movies with Sir Peter Ustinov on BR. I would say that is above average.

OTOH, there are other ways today. My online TV recording service can
record 20 US stations including the big networks. So, i can easily
download CSI, Grey's Anatomy or NCIS: LA, which has not started yet in
Germany.
