Oh woe is me, with a son who graduated from Yale and MIT, and is a research
scientist attending the Neuroendocrinology Meeting in Rouen, France, this
July..I so agree with you (NOT) about the deteriorating IQ in America. And
that is not mentioning the other four of our children who have BS or M.Sc.
degrees and who all have chosen fields where they help others and are
"givers" not "takers". Not like our present administration....Give it up,
Evelyn...there is good in this world. You need to get out and see it...

Oh, my. Is there sonme sort of criterion to discriminate between
a merger and a takeover? In any case, the Economist article on
the merger/takeover said that Iberia would keep its identity,
implying that it's not a given.

Per
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601085&sid=axZhctYNEXNcall
the stock will be of a single company:

"According to a memorandum of understanding signed by the
companies, British Airways investors will get one share in the
combined entity for every existing share they hold and Iberia
investors will get 1.0205 shares for each Iberia share."

Further:

"The two carriers will continue as separate brands and operating
divisions under a holding company registered in Madrid but with
its main offices and primary stock-exchange listing in London."

At Bloomberg is also quoted as

"The merger would consolidate British Airways rank as Europes
third-biggest carrier, expanding routes to Latin America and
allowing growth beyond its London Heathrow base."

In other words, it's considered to be a new, larger BA.

I'm sourprised that a big NATO air forces exercise will fit in to
part of the Netherlands.

Well, my flight is supposed to leave tomorrow. . . if they don't kick me
off to make room for a returning German!
