Not wanting hash browns and knowing that we couldn't substitute sliced tomatoes, BR and I decided not to bother with the steak and eggs and ordered the regular steak special. Andrew evidently had his heart set on tomatoes--even if it meant that they were cooked. He opted for the Chicken Parmesan sandwich. Donna

It's $4.95 for now, but if the knuckleheads in government keep ordering more U.S. feed corn to be turned into expensive, tax-subsidized ethanol, all meat including the Ellis Island steak will be going up in price --- Walt

This is strictly from my rapidly deteriorating memory so take it with at least a few grains of salt as I could be very wrong, but I vaguely remember that someone from the group was told and posted that since the smoking ban went into effect, the plan was to raise the price of the off-the-menu EI steak special by $2.00 to cover the projected loss in revenue. When I went there just a couple of weeks after the smoking ban went into effect, I waited close to an hour for a table. I could be very wrong, but their business seemed more than fine to me. Donna
