wow -- you can say that again. I've lowered my expectation for her share
of the vote --- before I was thinking 42 to 44 --- now I'm thinking 35
to 38. I know she can get it to 24% (just the baggers) by November --
all she's got to do is keep talking.

That Siegel guy seems to know how to do renovations on the cheap. He re-did the old
St. Tropez for $4 million, and the Gold Spike and the Artisan. Of course those are
much smaller properties than the Plaza, which he is not involved with.

that he does --- I don't know how thorough he is but some of the places
he has looks nice.

(you do know he runs several weekly rental slums here I suppose? the
rankest of the rank)

and I'm not sure any of those had slid as far as the Plaza has? there's
years and years of neglect to recover from. I know you can crack skulls
and get spectacular pricing on construction work --- but still, $20M
might not get the Plaza spruced up enough to matter.

Yes, I've seen the Siegel Slums, er, Suites. "Free Internet and Syringe Disposal!".

I'm guessing the $20 million if for room renovations, because the
casino itself isn't that bad anymore, it's just dead & the dwindling
number of table games is pathetic. That casino was doing huge
business when Jackie Gaughan owned it. A packed Golden Gate really
makes a huge, empty Plaza look bad.
