Hi Brynjulf,

I don't remember the Anchorage Yacht Club at all. I stayed at the Clifton
Beach Hotel. (Which I see wasn't in my journal, but now is.)

If there were any nice beaches on the island I would have taken pictures of
them. It isn't an island of beaches. Note that the catamarans take people
to beaches on other little islands.

Union Island is tiny. Tourism is low. There is only catchment water, at
least back in 2001 when I was there. I find it odd that you are making it a
destination.

To be a world class beach more than that is needed. It needs to be a cove,
so when you look out you have some view besides the expanse of the ocean.
The cove also makes the waters calm. And you need palm trees a little
beyond the beach for shade.

Here is a beach that meets these requirements:

Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda also meets these requirements, but for $$$.

One place that would have been ideal for you is the Rendezvous Bay Hotel on
Anguilla. You could have been on the ground floor of a villa right on the
beach. Prices were not exhorbitant. But, alas, they sold out and the place
is becoming very expensive condos:

It's as the pictures depict, a 100 ft or so trot to the beach. I don't know
the names of the places, and when we were there the hurricane had the beach
in and on the houses, but there are a long line of cottages right on the
beach at Grand Anse. I don't know if cottages is the right term, but if you
look up Grand Anse beach in Grenada you'll find them - they're all part of
some resort.
