Constitutionally there only three qualifications: that they reside in
the state (in the case of a Senator); that they have been a citizen for
at least 7 years; and have attained the Age of 25 years. Other than
that, the qualifications are pretty much whatever the voters say they
are.

But as I mentioned, and you snipped, the rest is up to the
electorate. If enough of them vote for someone they have, by any logical
definition, sold themselves quite well thank you. Or you can sell
yourself brilliantly, but if you are selling ain't what the electorate
is looking for, then the ability to sell yourself is sorta beside the
point.

lol -- I'm posting from the third planet from the Sun. Where are you
posting from? It's fun to be an constitutional purist but toss in a
little reality and before you know it the world turns to poop. Making
matters worse, in Angle's case, is that she doesn't even get the
constitution. Oh well. Sucks to be her.

And speaking of fiduciary duties perhaps you can give us a run down on
how that's working for BP. They operated their blown out well with the
stockholders in mind. Should they (BP) be rewarded? No one needs to get
fired? Everything worked as planned financially?

But they did not even come close to their fiduciary duty. That should
be obvious by the nastiness done to their stock price, etc. People get
the idea that fiduciary duties are discharged only when the stock goes
up. They are also involved when they don't protect the stocks from going
down.

It worked for Jake and Elwood.
