Yeah, my friends and I noticed that about Off Kilter when we were
at the Norway pavilion in January....That much amplification really
does seem excessive.

I don't have time to write a long list now, but I did want to say that
the closing of Horizons broke my heart.

For those of you maintaining that Epcot has as much live entertainment
as EPCOT ever did, you're just wrong.
For those who "never saw ______," doesn't mean it wasn't there :)

Now, there may be -- on a strictly numerical basis -- as many live
entertainment offerings as ever, but there is no comparison to what
was there previously.

What ever happened to (to name just a few) ...

* The Future World Brass

* The Future Corp

* Marimba Mayalandia

* World Class Brass

* Tapestry of Nations parade (thematically themed to Illuminations:
Reflections of Earth)

* The live musical program with dancers that ran *daily* at the
America Gardens Theater (when there weren't any special acts)

* The spectacular big shows -- Blast!, American College Orchestra,
Lord of the Dance, etc. -- that used to be brought in every Summer

So, while three guys banging on trashcans is cute, it just doesn't
compare to the Future Corp, for example :)
BTW, have the above shows been replaced? No.

And, on a whole other issue, how about the shows/acts that are still
there, but are shells of what they once were?
For example:

* Oktoberfest Musikanten (Germany)

And, then there are the acts that have been trimmed-back.
For example:

* Voices of Liberty (American Adventure)

There used to be two shifts of singers that performed (so that
performances extended into the evening hours). When the shift change
occurred (i.e. the "change-over show"), both casts would perform the
finale together... with the second cast appearing dramatically from
the second floor along the railings. It was a highlight of the day.
And, those of us that knew about it made it a point to catch the
"change-over show."
So, while the Voices of Liberty is as good as they ever were, there is
just less of it :)

me too!

my grandfather worked for GE and once we were able to go to a "VIP area"
in Horizons (it was sponsored by GE at the time) and they had these
tangerine flavored candies in there... so from then on whenever I'd go
on the ride and got to the "orange" part, that's what I'd think of.

The one I miss most is 20,000 leagues under the sea that was in Magic
Kingdom many many many years ago.
