From: Robfasto on 26 Jan 2010 09:44 Have a great time so far... Just a quick observation about being at a All-Star or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Unlike the other resorts you can hear a lot of sirens and horns from U.S. 192 making it harder to get away from the real world. Also not having a Quick Service restaurant at Kidani Village is the pits. Having to board a bus to go get a snack doesn't not work too well. I've been to All-Star Music and Sport as well as Pop Century. I haven't heard any sirens. Maybe you have super-sensitive hearing. > Also not having a Quick Service restaurant at Kidani Village is the pits. > Having to board a bus to go get a snack doesn't not work too well. Yes. That would seriously suck.

I've had a couple of stays at ASSp and one recent one at Jambo House but don't recall hearing anything, sirens or otherwise, from nearby highways. > > Also not having a Quick Service restaurant at Kidani Village is the pits. > Having to board a bus to go get a snack doesn't not work too well. > I can understand that. I made the walk from Jambo to Kidani (and back) and didn't think it that bad. I guess walking 110-15 minutes for a snack wouldn't be that big a deal for me but I can understand how others may not like it.

Robert, are you talking about hearing sirens at AKL from your room, or from the pool, or...? And which building were you in? I've stayed at Jambo House three or four times and have found the rooms to be extremely quiet. I didn't even wake up when I was there on Marathon Weekend once and people in nearby rooms were getting up in the middle of the night for their race. Don't recall ever hearing sirens from the pool or the savannah overlooks, either. >Also not having a Quick Service restaurant at Kidani Village is the pits. >Having to board a bus to go get a snack doesn't not work too well. The Mara is an above-average quick-service place. It is unfortunate that there's no equivalent at Kidani Village. I suppose the theory is that people who have kitchens in their rooms are going to keep basic foods on hand and don't need a quick-service place. But you aren't likely to be whipping up zebra domes and African stew in your room, so yeah, stuff like that should be available! Patty

I have not noticed that, either, but maybe the removal of trees due to the opening of the Western Bypass, Kidani and other nearby off-property resorts and shopping has made it worse? -- - RODNEY Next WDW Vacation?
