Can you say "computer virus"? I knew you could.

I knew you could. speaking of viri --- I typed something into yahoo I was researching. the third result pretty well had everything I was looking for so I clicked on it. Up comes a youtube type window with a video itching to be played. I clicked on the video and it said that I needed flash player to see the video. Odd, given that I'd literally just installed and tested the newest flash player. So I click on the link to see what would happen. A file download and Norton instantly flew open to tell me the file was a virus. What was odd is that the page had every term listed that I'd typed into yahoo. they were hamachi, vpn, sprint and data. Not a very common set of words to search on. It looked like the page was generated specifically on my search term. I don't know how they got the page ranked that high --- but thank goodness the threat was stopped --- or I'd of had to reload the image on my drive I'd just made (and why I decided to click on the video link). anywho --- just thought I'd mention this as it seems a fairly aggressive new approach to payload delivery. Oh, and to get Hamachi working on sprint you need to 1) go into the 3g profile and tell it you want Windows client support and 2) turn off connection acceleration. -- "How can one little Street swallow so many lives?" -- The Offspring, The Kids Aren't Alright --tr

My client in San Jose had a site hacked and it was obvious the perp had obtained the user name and password. The theory at the time was that someone with access to the server had been a victim of this same virus, which I was told starts harvesting your user names and passwords and sending them in. Research indeed indicated that the exploit was via a Flash Player trap. No coincidence I'm sure that several AVLV'ers received spam email this morning from a self professed computer expert douchebag, said email containing his entire contact list, including at least one email address, with first and last name, from a certain amusement enterprise chiefly known for operations in Orlando and Anaheim. Good stuff I'm sure in case a douche storm ever breaks out again. > Oh, and to get Hamachi working on sprint you need to 1) go into the 3g > profile and tell it you want Windows client support and 2) turn off > connection acceleration. Now I have to google to see what you are talking about. I've been too busy lately exploring the vast candy land that is my jail broken iPhone. The wonders to behold includes last nights app that turns the phone into a wifi router. It takes all of a minute to install and have it up and running.

Is that some Mickey Mouse attempt at a hint? If so I don't get it. > Good stuff I'm sure > in case a douche storm ever breaks out again. nah, he went off to Fraaaaance. > Now I have to google to see what you are talking about. off the shelf soft VPN... there's a free version and a paid one. the paid one gets you on a fatter pipe. > The wonders to behold includes last nights app that turns the phone into > a wifi router. Looking into a new carrier as we speak.
