The sidewalk is pretty narrow there in front of Margaritaville. No place to run from
a careening vehicle even if there's time to react.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. Bottle neck areas, like
Casino Royale as well as Margaritaville, and no retaining wall (which
would also discourage jaywalking).

You make a valid point, however, the best way, IMHO, is to stay out of
the street period. The sidewalk is smaller at points. Just hang on
and walk on the sidewalk. If you walk in the street you know "gonna
get smacked possibly". That would not be the casinos fault, the cars
fault, but the jaywalkers. Stay on the sidewalk.

Unofortunately, there's been many times I've even had trouble holdin'
onto the sidewalk!
