From: meshmar on 24 Jun 2010 21:08 On July 12 I get admitted to the VA Hospital in Gainesville, FL. On the 14th I am due to go in for some rather major surgery. The veins (not arteries) feeding into my heart have decided to clog up (due to scarring from pacemaker leads and the severe infection I had that required their removal). Now the Surgeons are going to take the large veins from my thighs; crack my chest and use the veins to shunt from my jugulars to my right atrium. While they are in there, they are going to place 4 epicardial pacemaker leads (the kind that attach directly to the outside of your heart); make a pacemaker pocket; and hopefully put in a new pacemaker. They are also placing 3 additional temporary epicardial pacemaker leads and running them to an external pacemaker. All in all, it's not going to be a lot of fun and I could use some overflights by Tinkerbell to stir up a little Magic ... Needless to say, I will be away from here for a while too. -- Not 'THAT' Ed TDC Royal Inspector of the Pork Loins, Guardian of the Rub and Taste Tester for Boma

And remember it's an excuse for a Disney trip. Sending you all the pixie dust I have. Bill |
