From: Ginny Favers on 26 Jun 2010 21:58 I have a challenge for you! We are going to paint our house and outbuildings in the color scheme used at Alligator Bayou, and I want to do some landscaping to go with it. Can you guys name all the plants you see in Port Orleans' landscaping? Magnolia trees are what I remember the most. What else? I have to start trying to figure out what would be hardy up here for our freezing winters. There actually is a big, thriving magnolia tree around the corner from us, so I know that can be done! -- *~Amanda TDC Ginny Favers, Rescued Princess of Chickapin Hill*

I would guess there are a lot of palms, hibiscuses, and other tropicals that wouldn't survive your winter. Magnolias will do fine as would crape myrtles, gardenias, and azaleas. -- - RODNEY Next WDW Vacation? Who knows! I am wondering what kinds of ferns and elephant ear type plants those are that are used as ground cover? Other small shrubs and ornamentals? ~Amanda

These may help, Amanda: http://www.wintertime.com/OH/Disney/WDW/WDW2007/images/POR-room.jpg http://www.wintertime.com/OH/Disney/WDW/WDW2007/images/POR-bldg.jpg http://www.wintertime.com/OH/Disney/WDW/WDW2007/images/POR-azalea.jpg http://www.wintertime.com/OH/Disney/WDW/WDW2007/images/POR-landscaping.jpg I think those are nandina around the buildings. Along the path are azaleas (southern Indicas?) and some sort of shrub with palmlike fronds. I can email you higher-resolution photos if you need them. Patty
