Our first cruise (NCL) we were upgraded from a GTY inside to an inside on deck 9 and it was a very rough crossing (to Bermuda in November) so I wasn't so thrilled to be up higher. Sometimes they closed the forward elevators because it was so rough and there was no water in the pool because it all sloshed out. I got a headache in the cabin if I tried to read or something. The good thing was the ship was practically deserted at meals so we never had to wait in line. Our first cruise on HAL which was to be B2B, we were upgraded on the first half to an ocean view. They were surprised that we weren't thrilled with having to move. I've also been 'upgraded' on NCL to an inside handicapped cabin, which I did like.

It is a totally obstructed HH. I am guessing > if I get an upgrade I will get portholes. I believe that H is also advertised as obstructed view. I had originally booked HH but switched to H before I paid because they lowered the price on H but not HH (really screwy pricing on HAL). Someone I'm talking to on CC had booked an E and got upgraded to a C but it took a few extra days to get his assignment. Bill
From: Surfer E2468 on 5 Aug 2010 16:51 Will not take an upgrade, they ar usually worse than what you would like,we ALWAYS pick our cabin and know exactly where it is and what we are getting. cruise lover(~~~~~) ..
From: Gadget World on 5 Aug 2010 17:46 Isn't it interesting that most ships sell from the top and bottom. The most expensive suites and inside cabins sell out first. The largest suites, usually have only two people in them. The smallest inside cabins always have 4 or 5 using the upper berths and a roll-a-way or two on the floor! You only live once,, my wife says book the suite!

H is an outside with portholes. HH is fully obstructed. The HH may have been higher priced because they are on the lower promenade deck. I would not mind actually being in one of the HH. I booked it before I booked the Veendam and had been on that class of ship. The porthole cabins like I was upgraded to from I think it was a K inside, to a G outside, was all the way forward which does not bother me. It was a large room because it was a handicapped room, that was a bonus, but the porthole was not exactly great. So doing it over I might have picked an assigned outside with a window. Like what Tom booked. I have a feeling I am going to end up with a porthole cabin again. An E to a C is a sideways upgrade. -- Charles
