When a person comes to Vegas they, ...leave home. Here are a few
things to do to increase your margin of safety.

a)Stop the paper a day before you leave and a day after you return.
Don't tell the representative or give as a reason as "leaving, going
on vacation." Leave that info blank.

b) Stop the mail delivery under the same set up. No reason given.

c) Invest in a few timers that will cut on and off your lights. Some
timers can me made to switch on and off at different. If you are
really cheap, save the receipt and return them when you get back.

d) Keep sprinklers on the same schedule.

e)Ask a neighbor to open and close curtains, have the trashcans out at
the street, even put some trash of theirs in them to make it look as
if you are at home.

f) Let the dogs out, and move things around.

Look for and be aware of tape above the door where the frame and the
door meet. If you see it, remove it. It is a way for crooks and
thugs to see if the door has been opened. If the seal is broken,
someone has used the door. If the seal has not been broken then there
is an increased likelyhood no one is home.

There are a myriad of things you can have done or do yourself to make
your home safer and increase your peace of mind. What are some of the
things you feel would be good to do at your home to increase the
safety margins??

You forgot one thing don. Post beware of dog signs and on the front porch
attached 6 feet of welded link chain (big enough to tow a car) and a large
dog bowl..about 18" in diameter.
I understand it works very well.

The neighbor kids all know you don't have a dog, I use a "Warning, this
property is under video surveilance sign" in my windows most webcams come
with software that emails a picture on motion by the way, you can have a
picture on a remote server faster than a burglar can say "I'm Fucked"

Ya know, that sounds good. The dog bowl thing is a great idea. I
have two Rots, they look like like a large 50# bag of potatoes each.
I love them to death. That chain and dog food bowl is a great idea.
Keeping your home and property safe is an important thing.

Ah bullshit. A good piece of steak can take care of that.
