But, if you go once per year, and 100 points isn't enough to stay for
a week, and you have to bank or borrow, then you can't stay there once a
year, right? You have to stay other places with your OKW points every
other year at least. Right?

Hawaii is a bit more practical for those of you on the west coast. We
easterners head to the Caribbean if we want a dose of sun, sand, and
pirates.

We own at BLT and were thinking of adding OKW.

Pretty much. Unless I were to get lucky where they had the week I planned
to go available at AKLV at 7 months out so I could use my OKW points.
Actually I think 100 would get you a Studio at AKLV for a week. Probably a
standard view and not savannah. Also depends on the season. But we prefer
a 1-bedroom with a savannah view so, no, 100 would not be sufficient for an
annual trip. That's why I want to get more AKLV points and dump the OKW
points. I currently have 200 OKW points. So I am contemplating selling
those and adding 100 to 150 more at AKLV. So that would give me 200 or 250
at AKLV and 100 at Aulani. I need to check the points chart. I think 200
may fall a little short of a 1-bedroom savannah view so probably will go
with adding 150.

That is what happened to me when I booked my upcoming trip for later this
year. Ony had enough AKLV points to book all but one day of the trip. So
had to wait until the 7 month window hit and then was able to use the OKW
points. Fortunately it worked out and that one day was available to book at
AKLV. They now tie multiple reservations made at different times together
under one reservation number which is nice.

As for Hawaii, I don't plan to go there every year so would do the
bank/borrow thing probably about every 2 to 3 years.

It has nothing to do with being more practical. I see pirates all the time.
Can't seem to get away from them, actually. I just need to have one
destination I can go to that is pirate free. And Hawaii will be that place.

Cool. Looking into putting my OKW on the resale market some time soon.

But you could book whatever number of nights 100 points will buy at the 11
month window... then:
-You can "buy" additional points at $15 per (new program);
-Book additional nights at 7-months, using points from other resorts;
-Spend a night or two on cash at the resort of your choice.

As I've said, there are plenty of options to manage your points depending
on your personal requirements.
