From: Ginny Favers on 8 Jul 2010 12:48 Sigh -- this confuses me, so bear with me. If you own several small DVC contracts, each one at a different home resort, can you call one of your home resorts at the 11 month window and use points from two or three contracts to book a reservation? Example: I have 150 at AKL, 150 at BCV and 150 at VWL, can I book a 250 point reservation at the 11 month window anywhere? -- *~Amanda TDC Ginny Favers, Rescued Princess of Chickapin Hill

So... if I ever wanted to book a two bedroom villa at Wilderness Lodge I pretty much have to have that many points there. I've heard it's hard to get 2 bedrooms there, and also it's difficult to get anything at Beach Club at peak times if you don't own there. Does that sound right to you? ~Amanda

In your example, you could borrow enough WLV points from next year to get a 2-BR this year. You could bank your BCV points and stay there next year in a 2BR. And so on... Managing points sounds very complex but, in reality, it's fairly simple. You'll fall into a pattern of visits and know, untuitively, how you want to manage them for next year.

Been a DVC member since 1995. Only points available to purchase then was at OKW. I hardly ever stay there these days with all of the other DVC resorts that have been built since. I still like OKW a lot but I *love* AKLV. Since I only tend to go to WDW once per year, I added on 100 points at AKLV two years ago so that I could have the "home resort priority" 11-month booking window. 7 months just wasn't working. And, as of last week... I have 100 points at the Aulani resort in Hawaii which opens in 2011! Went to one of the presentations they were having at the Disneyland Hotel just to check it out and ended up buying. My plan is to sell off the OKW contract and then probably re-invest it in more AKLV points. Or possibly BLT. I also recommend calling your DVC guide with any questions about how to work out your multiple contracts if it doesn't quite make sense. That's what they are there for. My guide is great. I had a bunch of questions for him last week since it was the first time I had considered selling off points and also because I am a bit new at managing multiple contracts. I went from one contract then two and now three. He sat there with a notepad and calculator and put each scenario down on paper to help me figure out what options would work best for me based on how I tend to vacation. It really did help.
