He wants magicians, buffets and nostalgia shows. A schooner in Maine is
wrong, wrong wrong.

Get a balcony cabin and you can sit out there and avoid the crowds.
Sitting out on the balcony overlooking the sea is restful and you can
reflect in the nature of the sea. Even on a crowded ship.

I am guessing this is something your wife wants to do but it might turn
out better than you think.

Well I'm sure a Holland wouldn't fit his bill either. I think there
are just as many kids on a Royal Caribbean as Carnival ( I found the
food better on Carnival), perhaps he would be happier with a Princess
ship?

We have taken about 10 cruises over the past 7 years. Carnival and
NCL. Bought all of them and airfare on-line, never had an issue. My
wife has a Carnival employee who calls her with late bookings. Bought
our travel insurance through our auto insurance company (AAA) as they
are the cheapest.

You and your wife will become addicted to www.cruisecritic.com every
bit of advice you could ever ask for is on this site, you will find
people posting comments from their cruise ship, the best info. If you
and your wife would like to bring alcohol on board, click here;
http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com/

Granted, there a lot of people on board, but you will be able to find
a place on-board to avoid the crowds, as well as places on shore.
Lots of nice places in the Caribbean.

Enjoy.
